Stolen blanket results in arrest
At 12:36 p.m., the owner of Quality Inn called police to report
stolen bed sheets and comforter claimed to have been taken by a
couple who spent the previous night.
Officer Joseph Lombardi responded. While on the way, he noticed
two men outside Dunkin Donuts engaged in an argument. Stopping to
enquire, he found the motel owner confronting the man he accused
of stealing motel property. The man was identified as 38-year-old
Gerald J. Roy of 99 South Spencer Road, Spencer. The woman with
him was identified as 23-year-old Sherrie Peterson of 124 Main St.
2, Spencer.
When asked about the bedding, Peterson retrieved the comforter from
her trunk, according to the report. She was issued a summons charging
larceny under $250. Roy was arrested for disorderly conduct and
larceny under $250. (30203)
Friday, Dec. 18
Suspect goes missing along with four cans of beer
At 12:36 a.m., police received a call from Village Mobil on Route
20 reporting a 30-pack of Coors Light stolen by a pair of men who
drove off in a Honda with Massachusetts plates. Police were given
the plate number, according to the report, and were able to locate
26-year-old Edwin William Santiago at an apartment located at 124
Pine St., Southbridge.
All but four of the beers were reportedly recovered, but the second
suspect has not been located or identified.
Santiago, whose given address is 620 Main St. Apt. 1, Southbridge
was arrested for shoplifting by asportation, according to the report.

Saturday, Dec. 19
Hit and run lands victim in hospital
At 4:57 p.m., police received a 911 call reporting an accident with
injury in front of the Piccadilly Pub on Main Street.
According to the report, it was a two-car accident in which one
driver plowed into the back of a car, then left the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark colored Toyota SUV, but could not
locate the vehicle after a search. Meanwhile the driver of the vehicle
that was hit was taken to Harrington Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Later, an attorney for 49-year-old Grace K. Carmark of 17 Long Island,
Webster called the station to report that his client would take
responsibility for the accident.
They came in together and Carmark was issued a criminal complaint
for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene
of personal injury. (30417)
Sunday, Dec. 20
Officer injured while making arrest
At 2:16 a.m., police received a call from an off duty Southbridge
police sergeant reporting suspicious activity at the Route 15 Mobil
station.
Officer Ronald Obuchowski responded to find 26-year-old Ron Joseph
Varrichione of 96 Maybrook Road, Holland intoxicated, according
to the report.
Officer Obuchowski advised Varrichione to call a sober person to
come take responsibility for him, but he refused, according to the
report. Varrichione continued to be uncooperative, the report states
and Obuchowski strained to get the man cuffed and into the cruiser.
As a result, Obuchowski went to the hospital for evaluation of injuries
sustained during the arrest. Varrichione was charged with disorderly
conduct and disturbing the peace. (30449, 30520)
Homeless man arrested on multiple warrants
At 12:39 p.m., police acted on information that a man wanted on
six warrants related to larceny was staying at the Passport Inn
on Main Street.
Thirty-year-old Adam J. Trevino, with a given address as homeless,
was arrested there without incident.(30476)
